The Private Pilots License is the most complex of all license.  On the other hand, it is also the most fun and rewarding.  To earn your private pilots license, here are a few things you will learn to do:

  • Take Off and Land the airplane on Long and Short Paved Runways, and Firm (Dry) and Soft (Wet) Runways
  • Maneuver the airplane in climbs, descents, circles around a point on the ground.  Also how to correctly turn the airplane when the wind is blowing you and you want to stay over a point on the ground, like the runway ;)
  • Maneuver the airplane by only looking at your instruments in the airplane, not outside.
  • How to navigate using VOR's, NDB's, Roads, Rivers, and other landmarks, Time & Distance while holding a heading (corrected for wind).
  • How to read Aeronautical charts and other associated items
  • How to interpret the weather forecast and make go or no-go decisions.
  • Emergency Procedures, Stalls, Engine Out, Flaps, Rudder, or Elevator not working/stuck, Inadvertent Spin Recovery (no spin training required for private license)
  • How to land in a Crosswind (Airplanes want to weathervane into the wind)
  • How to read and interpret the airplanes performance manual.
  • How to complete a weight & balance
  • What documents must you, the pilot, have to fly and what do you need in the airplane?

There is much more than what is listed above.  The accelerated course is a great way to get your license and is the least expensive way.  It will require complete dedication and an open mind.

If going the standard route, it too will require dedication and the more often you fly, the quicker and less expensive it will be to get your license.  It is recommended you fly at least two times a week and each flight is approximately 1.5 hours.  We can work around your schedule.  Call us with any questions you may have.
